I took part in the ceremony of the Bicentennial of the French Revolution (1789 - 1989) held in Colombo. Attending the ceremony were Professor Cyril Ponnamperuma and Professor Kapila Dahanayake from the IFS.
On my left is the first Executive President of Sri Lanka, President J. R. Jayewardene. On my right is the first woman Prime Minister in the world Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike. The French Ambassador was also in attendance.
